Guernsey Festival of Comedy, 13th – 21st May

 

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Guernsey Festival of Comedy which starts slightly earlier this year on the calendar. The event is also known as the Sure Festival of comedy as it is sponsored by the channel islands mobile phone network. The festival is set to be a great one, and here are some of the acts that are performing.

About: The festival this year is to be welcomed in with a special night of comedy to celebrate the fact that the festival is a big fat 10. The show will have three fantastic comedians, Jonny Awsum, John Gordillo and James Redmond. Jonny is known for his feel good musical comedy and is known all over the world. John is one of Britain’s most fertile comic minds and has hosted the BBC Choice RDA and also has directed works by everyone from Eddie Izzard to Reginald Hunter. If this last face looks familiar to you, it’s because he used to be a firm favourite on television such as Hollyoaks, Casualty, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. James has appeared at the festival before and has gone from strength to strength in his career.

About: The comedian that is known for gatecrashing Kanye West Glastonbury set, faking to be a member of Stereo Kicks on XFactor and throwing loads of money over a Sepp Blatter, if you want to see the man of many stunts in person, then this is the opportunity for you. About: If you are looking for a night of a whole array of stand up comedians, then this is the show you must go to as it has some really great acts! The first act on the line up is none other then Dave Thompson, a comedian who has been described by Time Out before as ‘one of the finest joke writers in the country. ‘ If your looking for a comedian that the last time they performed brought the roof down, then Matt Welcome is the comic for you who will be waiting to tickle your rib cage silly with his conversational type comedy. Johnny & The Baptists will be there to welcome you into the world of songs, jokes and political wordplay with just plain silliness thrown into the mix. Sol Bernstein is one of the oldest working comedians in the world and he is back to make you laugh even harder. Finally, Ricky Grover will be their to show you what comedy is all about.
