This Friday we are going to look at a boy band that only released one album and had members of the band The Script in it and it was where they started their music career, I am talking about none other then MyTown
The group were formed in 1996 by the bands members Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, Terry Daly and Paul Walker. After the band formed they toured around Ireland and England and played a showcase in the Mobius TV studios. The studio was owned by Eamonn Maguire and he ended up mortgaging his house, leaving his CEO position of The Mobius Group to manage the band full time.
Eamonn secured a coveted showcase at the EAT’M Conference in Las Vegas and in 1998 the and flew out and successfully showcased at the MGM Theatre there. There also started a negotiation for one of the biggest deals in pop history for a new band. Danny O’Donoghue didn’t join the band until they flew back and the member Tony decided to quit.
The band called themselves MyTown and were signed to Universal Records and they began harmonizing and writing songs together. Their debut single ‘Do it Like this’ was released in Ireland in 1997 and received moderate success. In 1999 the band started to promote the album releasing the songs ‘Body Bumpin’ in the USA, the second single ‘Now That I Found You” In the USA and Australia and ‘Party All Night’ worldwide. The album was meant to released worldwide however never came to release in Britain or Ireland due to the struggle within Universal Records in the USA.
The label that they were attached to was dropped from the label Universal and each of the band members decided to pursue their own paths leaden to Sheehan and O’Donoghue forming The Script. So lets have a look at some of their music this afternoon!
