In 2011 the American Thriller film called Limitless was released into the cinemas and was based on the novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn. It starred Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro. The story was about Edward Morra who is a struggling writer who is introduced to the nootropic drug called NZT-48 which gives him to fully utilize his brain and improve his lifestyle. The film did well in the box office and grossed over $161 million.
Due to the film being such a success the Television strand of the Distribution company called Relativity (which their television side is now called Critical Content due to bankruptcy and change of owner) created a television show on the film and on the events that take place after the film.
Bradley Cooper was one of the executive producers on the television version and aired on CBS. The television show follows Brian Finch a 28 year old struggling musician who is introduced to the miracle drug that gives him access to every neuron in his brain and becomes the smarted person in the world. Bradley Cooper became a regular guest appearance in the television show as well.
The show was aired on the 22 September 2015 on CBS in America and Sky 1 in February 2016 in the UK. The show unlike the film, received mixed reviews and one review states that ‘Even with a likable hero, Limitless cannot overcome its credulity-straining and shaky, hole riddled narrative’. The show was cancelled after only one season.
