Welcome to a brand new feature on The Phoenix Remix, all about travel!

In this series of articles we will look at certain areas of travel – sometimes areas as a whole, and sometimes more niche things like advice, food, hotels and so much more. Sometimes to travel you just want advice from the traveller so that you get an idea what something is like.

Today we are going to look at a city in the North East of England that I lived in recently for only a year and talk to you in brief about certain aspects – Newcastle

Around Town

Newcastle Town centre is a great place for sightseeing if you only have a day to look around as everything is close by you can do a lot. The main sites the town has to offer include Earl Grey Monument, the bridges like The Tyne as well as places such as the Baltic Centre.

If you have a love of football then you should check out St James Park and if you love shopping then the city centre has so many shops you will be in your element!

Night Life

There is much Night life in Newcastle and there is many pubs and nightclubs in the town centre that it makes it one of the best venues in the U.K. For a night out and many come here to experience the Geordie Shore type of night.

For other sorts of nights out there are many hidden gems across the city. There are many music venues for an array of different types of music such as The Sage, The Town Hall, Metro Radio Arena and the o2. There are also many venues such as the theatres around town that put on some great plays and musicals.

The best place for comedy in the area is The Stand which is the home of the biggest improv act in the North East, The Suggetibles as well as some of the biggest U.K. Comedians venue for performing in the North. Acts include Nish Kumar, Sarah Pascoe and Zoe Lyons.

One thing to look out for is Restaurant Week this is when all of the restaurants in the city offer really cheap set menus so that people can try some of their most popular dishes. You have to booo your offers in advance though to reserve a table as they fill up very quickly.
