If you are looking for a book that is all about romance and relationships and flowers and love surrounding you every where – this is not the book for you. If you are however looking or a book, written by an OCD 28 year old comedian who has been single for pretty much all of his twenties and charges his housemates for his cleaning needs – the this IS the book for you.
Jon Richardson is not your normal comedian, whilst he is making you laugh and aw at his hilarities on the shows 8 Out of 10 Cats there is a side to him that the world is not that knowledgeable about and that is his very organized life. Now, this book was written a while ago, considering that he is now married with a child and is 31ish and not 28 anymore, however if you want an insight into what the comedian used to be like and for a book that is very easy to read, will make you laugh, will make you aw, then this is the book for you.
In the book it is all about the life of a man who finds it hard to have relationships, so much so he hasn’t had a girlfriend in over 7 years because he finds that he wasn’t that bothered about having one and also because his OCD has got in the way as well. This is the story of a man who is facing his first date with a girl in a long time and the thought process that he goes through, throughout the whole run up as well a look into his life.
Its the little things that make this book a great read – the fact that he panics non stop about the door being locked, the fact that he feels how we all feel about eating alone and noisy people in the quiet section on the train. He explores his OCD and the tells funny anecdotes about the time he charged his fellow comedian housemates (Russell Howard, Jon Robins) money for cleaning the house without any help.
If you are looking for a book to get you through the day and make it shine a little bit more then read this book, Jon comes across as a person that you would want o invite round for a cup of tea as he would make you laugh but at the same time would have to make sure there is a coaster ready from the get go.
