Today we are looking at a boy band that had a short lived music career but ended up opening doors for one of the members to have a successful solo career in the USA. Today we are looking at the group Dream Street.

screen-shot-2017-02-03-at-11-14-45The boyband was formed in 1999 by failing music producers Louis Baldoneri and Brian Lukow and the original name of the group was Boy Wonder which was cased on the nickname of the comic books character Robin. The group was formed of many boys from the Broadway scene that were between the ages of 11 and 14 years old.

The first version of the group had their debut single including a jazzy theme song and tap dancing however it didn’t work and it was stopped pretty much straight after it was made.

The group was then reformed with members Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger, Frankie Galasso and Chris Trousdale and they were given the name Dream Street. Out of all the music they made for the original line up, there was only one song that was kept and that was a song called ‘Jennifer Goodbye’.

Their debut album was released in 2001 and went Gold in the USA and hit number 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart and 37 on the mainstream Billboard 200. A few of their songs were played regularly on the disney channel. They had 4 singles in total called ‘It Happens Everytime’ ‘I say Yeah’ ‘Sugar Rush’ and ‘With All My Heart’. They also had two albums one called Dream Street and the other called The Biggest Fan.

The group broke up in 2002 as the parents of the band filed lawsuits against the music producers because they were allegedly ‘exposing the boys to booze, women and pornography.’ So lets have a look at some of their music today
