The Travel Book – Oceanarium, Bournemouth, Dorset

If you are in the area of Bournemouth in Dorset anytime soon there will be a tourist attraction right on the gateway to the sandy beaches and whilst a lot of you may not consider going in, i advise you do and check out the little hidden gem that is the Bournemouth Oceanarium.

It’s not like most places to have a sealife centre on the front of the beach, especially one that is not a Sea Life Centre, however, Bournemouth’s Oceanarium is a place that will open you with welcome arms and really heightens your experience when you visit the coast. Over the years it has expanded to a bigger centre for all things marine life and in the past few years it has welcomed otters and very adorable Penguins.

The price is quite reasonable to visit and it allows you to come back and forth as much as you want during the day. If you have children or enjoy learning more about the animals that live in the sea, then this is something you will want to take advantage of as throughout the day the staff provide feeding sessions where they both feed the animals and tell you a bit about the species.

When you have had a look around the Oceanarium make sure you visit the gift shop where there is lots of great gifts for you to takeaway as souvenirs. Also be sure to visit the coffee shop, not just to refresh yourself but to spend a few chilled out moments watching the sea and the world go by. There is also an upstairs balcony and an area at the back of the Oceanarium where you can also do this as well.

The Oceanarium has won awards in the past for Tourism in Bournemouth and after a visit there you will see why they have at its a bundle of underwater fun!
